Next Up
- Bobcat Safaris on October 13-14, and on
Oct 20. With bobcat populations back to
normal, I expect to encounter multiple bobcats
on each safari day - as well as the other
wildlife that inhabit the area - which could
include badgers, eagles, owls, wintering
songbirds, and coastal blacktail bucks. (LINK)
- Southern Utah Fall Colors Safari on
October 27-30. Unlike the fall colors in
Colorado, which are mostly the yellows of Aspen
and Cottonwoods, those same colors in Zion are
accented with Rocky Mountain Maples, which are a
vibrant red color, and along the Narrows Trail
the maples are stunning. (LINK)
- November is all about bobcat safaris.
November through the end of January are peak
bobcat photography months.
- There
is an exciting 3-day trip to Bosque del Apache in
mid-December in New Mexico. One of the
truly amazing birding locations with 50,000+
snow geese, and 20,000+ sandhill cranes, and
numerous ducks, javelinas, and raptors. (LINK)
This safari is just an easy day's drive east to
New Mexico from my house, and we usually hit
White Sands National Park on the way back.
Gallery Images - San Juan Landscape (CO) Safari
It rained a lot on the San Juan Mtns
Landscape Safari last week. Not so much
that it stopped us from shooting, but that it
hindered us a bit with dark mornings and low
light conditions. Colors were just short
of peak, but still brilliant. We
encountered the usual wildlife, though no really
large mule deer or moose this year. I was
struck by the hundreds of beaver dams we saw,
every creek was stepped-up with dams.
