As the spring snow recedes the park
takes on an amazing green tone. Grass fills in the hillsides,
blooming Red Bud trees add a sparkle of magenta/red color, and
waterfalls are everywhere as the snow pack comes down the mountains.
Black bears are active throughout the park and the bird life has
returned. On the south facing hills of the switchbacks leading
up the General's Highway towards the Giant Grove, wildflowers and
yucca begin to blossom.
This is a beautiful time to be in the
park. We photograph from the General's Highway, the Giant
Grove and meadows, the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River, Grant's
Grove, as well as all the run-off waterfalls and wildlife that we
run into.
The weather can still be cool so
layered clothing is essential. Last year there was still some
snow on the ground at the higher elevations.
Reservations
We meet in Three Rivers on Highway 198 at 7am in the Pizza Factory
parking lot. From there we travel up to the Giant Grove and
photograph throughout the grove and close by meadows. We stop
and shoot all the awesome landscapes that are possible. |
